Print #3 Hine-tītama/Hine-nui-te-pō
Hine-tītama(dawn maiden) was the daughter of hineahuone and Tāne. After discovering that her husband was her father she fled to the underworld and became Hine-nui-te-pō (goddess of the dead).
Print #2 Hine-te-iwaiwa
An important figure associated with Māori cosmology, she is viewed as a protector of the female. She is commonly linked to childbirth, weaving and the phases of the moon.
Print #1- Hineahuone
This piece is inspired by the story of Hineahuone, the first woman. Hineahuone was moulded out of red clay from kurawaka by Tāne. Tāne then breathed life into her and she sneezed, “Tihei Mauri Ora.” This piece is inspired by Hineahuone, new life and the start of mankind.
